Many different types of contraception
There are many different types of contraception, and at Peech we sell "barrier" contraception. This means condoms, dental dams and gloves that act as barriers to prevent the transmission of STDs or prevent pregnancy. Some forms of contraception are good for allergy sufferers, such as these latex-free condoms from Durex or these latex-free dental dams from Oralsafe.
When used correctly, contraceptive methods such as a condom are up to 97% safe against pregnancy and the transmission of STDs such as chlamydia. If you want to learn more about chlamydia, you can also read our guide here.

How to choose the right condom size?
Condoms are one of the safest forms of contraception when used correctly. A common mistake people make when buying condoms is choosing the wrong size. A condom that is too small can inhibit the blood flow so much that it feels uncomfortable or is impossible to put on. With a condom that is too big you risk it slipping off and no longer protecting against STDs or pregnancy.

When choosing the size of a condom, the most important thing is the width/diameter. Most condoms are long enough and provides cover all the way to the root. So the most important thing to be aware of is whether the condom fits tightly and doesn't slip off - and you can ensure this by choosing the right width. You can measure your circumference when the penis is hard using a tape measure or a piece of string, which you can then measure on afterwards. Then you can use this table to convert the measured circumference to the width of the condom:
-
Circumference: 9.5 cm - 10 cm = Size 47
Circumference: 10 cm - 11 cm = Size 49
Circumference: 11 cm - 11.5 cm = Size 53
Circumference: 11.5 cm - 12 cm = Size 57
Circumference: 12 cm - 13 cm = Size 60
Circumference: 13 cm - 14 cm = Size 64
Circumference: 14 cm - 15 cm = Size 69

These condoms from Mister Size come in many different sizes, so you can (almost) be sure to find the perfect size for you. If you have felt that condoms are bothersome and "take away" some of the sensation, it's most likely because the condom has been the wrong size.
How do you put on a condom?
You put on a condom by rolling it down over the penis. When you take the condom out of the wrapper, it is usually completely rolled up and it can be difficult to know which side is the right one. It can therefore be helpful to unroll the condom a little so it's easier to see whether it is inside out or not. If the rolled edge is facing outwards, the condom is the right way round and you are ready to put it on. Squeeze around the nub at the end of the condom so not too much air gets in. Then you are ready to roll it down over the penis. If you have a foreskin, it is more comfortable to roll it back a bit before putting the condom on. When the condom fits properly, it covers the whole penis and has a small amount of air in the nub at the top, so there's room for the sperm to be trapped.

After use, the easiest way to remove the condom is to hold the tip of the condom and gently slide the penis out. Condoms should only be used once and then thrown in the trash - not in the toilet!
