The muses are goddesses of art. Or as the muses themselves put it: A female role invented by horny and slightly unimaginative men. In the reality show ‘Keeping Up With The Muses’, we get up close and personal with life as muse, and through historical and contemporary examples, Sofie Riise Nors reveals the muse as anything but the romanticised female role we have been used to.
‘Jeg var din muse’ or ‘I was your muse’ is Sofie Riise Nors' latest graphic book. In the book, Sofie lets selected women, who have stood in the shadow of men and their art, tell their side of the story. In the book you can meet muses from the past and present, such as reality star Kim Kardashian, the nymph Daphne from Greek mythology and many more.
Sofie Riise Nors made her debut with Sexmagasinet in 2021 with the publisher COBOLT. She became known for her feminist memes on Instagram under the name Waginapineapple, and later with her humorous and thought-provoking books. ‘Jeg var din muse’ is Sofie's second book, which, like Sexmagasinet, addresses and criticises several oppressive structures in society.
